Slow and steady
January 5th, 2008
Today was a good Saturday. To me, a day is “good” when something measurable is accomplished, and we did accomplish a lot today.
- Picked up an old chair from the thrift shop. It looks pretty bad now, but it will look super after I slip-cover it. It’s got a cool shape.
- Took down the Christmas tree and ornaments. I know it seems late, but our fresh tree remained very fresh this year, and the city won’t be picking up trees in our neighborhood until the week of the 14th.
- Retextured the wall above the sink in the bathroom. Now it’s ready for a coat of paint and the new mirror.
- Installed the water handles in the shower. The new bathroom walls added just a bit too much depth, so getting the handles back on was tricky.
We are very slowly plugging away at our bathroom remodel. We had the shower walls replaced in December, followed by having the tub reglazed. New fixtures were installed at the time. Back in October we replaced the old light fixture and took off the old mirror. We are trying, but with two full-time jobs (one with overtime), two church callings, and two preschoolers, we don’t have a lot of spare time!
Tonight for dinner I made Maryanne’s “French” Stroganoff. Last time I made it, I froze the extra to see if it would keep. Sadly, it does not freeze well (it’s the sour cream I’m sure). It tasted the same but the texture was all wrong. Now I know.
