Pee-pee (part II)

This morning we got rain and some snow, and it was pretty cold. Rees was supposed to go to Little Gym, but he had some (ahem) personal issues that put us behind schedule. I decided it was better to just reschedule so he could enjoy the full class time. Instead we ran some errands (bank and post office) and then came home.

Rees finally put pee-pee in the toilet again (it’s been a while!). We were very excited. He was rewarded with flashing lights and bubbles. He also called Dad to brag.

In the afternoon I headed to work and Camillia came over to hang with Rees until Bryan got home.

A little driving music

This morning I was driving the Mazda back to Abra to have the tail light fixed, and the engine was just running really unevenly, like last night only way worse. The “check engine” light came on and began to flash. I called Bryan, who called D. Dahle, who told us to bring it in right away. I went ahead to Abra and had the tail light fixed (it turned out to be a burned-out bulb) and then went across the street to D. Dahle. Bryan met us there in the Jimmy. We ran a few errands, took him back to work, and headed home. It would be nice to have the Mazda in full working order again soon. They didn’t have time in their schedule to look at it until Monday.

Today I made a new mixtape* for driving. Here is the lineup:

  1. U2 - Vertigo
  2. Fall Out Boy - This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race
  3. Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To
  4. Lisa Loeb - Fools Like Me
  5. Alanis Morissette - Crazy (James Michael Mix)
  6. Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine
  7. The Decemberists - O Valencia!
  8. Lily Allen - Smile
  9. Grant Lee Buffalo - Testimony
  10. The Pointer Sisters - Jump (this is Rees’s favorite song right now)
  11. The Killers - Read My Mind
  12. Modest Mouse - Dashboard
  13. The Wallflowers - Three Ways
  14. Jamiroquai - Alright
  15. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
  16. Oasis - Acquiesce
  17. Snow Patrol - You’re All I Have
  18. R.E.M. - Leaving New York
  19. Rufus Wainwright - I Don’t Know What It Is

*of course, it’s a CD, but mixCD doesn’t have the same ring to it :)

Utah fun = family fun

My uncle Lars from Mars, aunt Grace from Space, and cousin Peter have been in Park City for the last few days. They came down to my folks’ for dinner, so we joined them, along with Michael, Sarah, and Ally. Bryan arrived a little later after he finished some stuff at work. It was a fun night. Grace brought a cute Easter basket full of toys and snacks for Rees to enjoy, and everyone had fun talking. Dad requested the usual torture (family pictures), and Michael did the honors with his camera on a tripod with a timer.

I picked up the Mazda today with no trouble. However, on the drive home from my folks’, I noticed that the brake light on the replaced tail light was not functioning. Looks like we’ll need to have that looked into. In addition, the Mazda’s idle is all messed up. It it not running very smoothly.

Shade shopping

The Mazda is not finished yet (it’s getting repaired), so we still have the rented Ford Escape today. Bryan took it to work and I took the Jimmy to Orem with the boys. We arrived before lunch and naptime so everyone could get settled.

While the boys napped, I visited the Shade store in American Fork. I have been wanting to check it out for a while. I picked up several items in different styles. Then I headed to work.

After Rees’s nap, my dad took him to the park, and then to meet Bryan at Thanksgiving Point for the trade.

Finally

We are finally getting the Mazda repaired after last month’s hit and run. The boys and I dropped it off at Abra in Murray this morning and got a rental car. The other lady’s insurance would only pay for a compact (!) car, but the sales guy offered to upgrade us to an SUV for an extra $5/day. Totally worth it with two carseats.

We picked up some groceries and visited the local park. We played for a while before finally heading home. The day was pretty normal and mellow after that. I worked my new Verio shift from home (4pm-12am). I didn’t attend mutual.

Bryan had a presentation today for Kairos, and he says it went well. They will most likely be doing business with this new business contact.

Girl’s Night

Today I worked my first shift of my new schedule (4pm-12am) in the office. Bryan could not make it home quite in time (work emergency), so I headed on down to Orem with both boys. He was able to meet us at Thanksgiving Point to take Rees, and I kept Jamie with me. He stayed at my parents’ during my shift - he goes to bed around 7pm.

I left work briefly to have dinner with the girls at Brick Oven. I had Hawaiian pizza with almonds, and a salad bar. There was a lot to talk about, with big changes for almost everyone in the last few months. Kristin S couldn’t make it because she was puking. :(

I didn’t have any problem staying awake for my whole shift. I didn’t feel like falling asleep on the drive home, but I could tell I was definitely impaired from being tired. I kept my speed down and listened to Coast to Coast to focus my brain.

First day

Both Bryan and I had to teach lessons to the youth today. My lesson was cut pretty short due to other stuff the Young Women needed to do. It’s okay, I didn’t do a very good job preparing it anyway. I attended BYC after church in Liz’s place. We talked about activities we had planned for the upcoming months, and the Bishop gave us some information about EFY. He is interested in having the youth attend EFY for Youth Conference in 2008. I walked home from church.

After church, while Rees was napping, we watched Casino Royale. I liked it, but I was also working, so I missed alot of the plot. I started my new work schedule today (working from home).

Jamie is the happiest baby. These days he is all smiles and giggles.  Rees is starting to read.  Will he be reading books before he learns to use the toilet?

Scrape a little, talk a little

This morning the Young Men and Young Women participated in a stake-planned service project. There were actually several projects to choose from - our girls chose to scrape and paint a fence. We scraped and painted from 9 until noon, then headed back to the church for lunch. The girls (and Liz and I) enjoyed the project. Jamie came with us, and Rees went with Bryan.

I worked for Verio in the afternoon. Maybe Bryan was inspired by the morning project (the boys helped revamp a driveway), because he spent several hours in the backyard cleaning out the vegetable garden. Last fall, I was too pregnant and tired to clean up the yard, and Bryan was too busy with work. Then Jamie was born and we had no time or energy, so the yard pretty much got ignored. It looks way better now that last year’s dead plants have been cleaned out. Rees had fun in his swing.

In the evening, Bryan and Rees went to Costco to pick up an outdoor storage bench I requested. Bryan assembled it tonight. It will be great for keeping Rees’s outdoor toys and other odds-and-ends organized - the patio will look much neater without all that junk everywhere. Bryan also took some cake to Brother Draper for his birthday.

Macho grande

Today was a work day at Verio. Nothing out of the ordinary. We made it home by a little after 6:00. When Bryan got home, I left for dinner out with Liz and Camillia. We went to Cafe Pierpont. Liz and Camillia shared a Macho Grande Burrito - they came nowhere near finishing it. I got a Shrimp and Crab Quesadilla and a strawberry daquiri. Yummy.

After dinner we hung out at Camillia’s, chatting for a while. I showed them my first quilt design and got their input.

Rees took the boys to IHOP. Rees kept asking Bryan if they could leave and saying that “IHOP is sad”. Is this the end of an era?

Taylor is now accountable

Cousin Taylor was baptized today. Everyone who participated did a great job. It appears that Brent is now the the standard speaker at baptisms on the Berrett side. He is great at giving talks for kids - he has their attention the entire time.

Congratulations to Taylor.
